LA Cancer Challenge to be Held at UCLA for First Time Since 2003

The 19th Annual L.A. Cancer Challenge 5K/10K Walk/Run (LACC) returns to its West Los Angeles home and will be held on the campus of UCLA for the first time since 2003.  The LACC is produced and sponsored by the Hirshberg Foundation, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research and serves at the kick-off to Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November.

As one of Southern California’s largest charity races with attendance expected to exceed more than 3,000, the highly popular philanthropic fundraiser will feature Halloween-themed activities, fun for the entire family. Highlights will include the Fit Family Expo, Halloween Kids Zone, celebrities, live entertainment and a Children’s Halloween Parade & Adult Costume Contest. In the height of the political season, many are expected to be dressed as recognizable political figures (PHOTO-OP).

Admission to the LACC is open to the public. Online registration will be open through October 28 at midnight:  $45 (5K OR 10K); $50 (both 5K AND 10K) and $20 (Kids Can Cure Fun Run) for ages 2 – 7.  Walk-up registration will be available on Saturday, October 29 from 11 am -3 pm at Big 5 Sporting Goods, 3121 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica and on Sunday, October 30 at the event for $50 (5K OR 10K); $55 (both 5K AND 10K) and $25 (Kids Can Cure Fun Run). For virtual walkers or runners who are unable to attend, a $25 donation or more will be accepted.  All donations are tax deductible. For more information or to register for the 19th Annual L.A. Cancer Challenge, visit www.LACancerChallenge.com or call (310) 473-5121.

Proceeds from the LACC will benefit the Hirshberg Foundation’s philanthropic efforts to advancing pancreatic cancer research and providing information, resources and support to pancreatic cancer patients and their families. In February 2015, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA introduced the UCLA Agi Hirshberg Center for Pancreatic Cancer Diseases made possible by the philanthropic support of the Hirshberg Foundation. Visit www.pancreatic.org for more information.
