Several Events to be Hosted by Malibu Senior Center

“Silver Fox Walk,” the Malibu Senior Center’s monthly walking group, will be heading to Point Dume on Thursday, December 8 at 9:00 AM. This month, the walk explores Point Dume, and will have Suzanne Guldimann, a local historian and naturalist, to guide the group and talk about the area. Suzanne is a local reporter and researcher who has written about the history and natural habitat of Malibu for decades.

Silver Fox Walks offer participants a chance to explore Malibu’s excellent hiking trails, enjoy spectacular mountain views and take in the rich, natural habitats of the Santa Monica Mountains with a fun group, while getting valuable outdoor exercise. Every month, the group will explore a new hiking location in the Malibu area. The two to three-mile hikes are led by an experienced guide and will have an easy to moderate difficulty level. Participants may bring guests of any age, and should bring water, sun protection, and appropriate shoes and clothes.

The Malibu Senior Center is hosting “The Market Beat” on Friday, December 12, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, offering insights into how economics have affected the stock market. Join us for this free discussion group like no other of like-minded people who want to have fun and learn to be better investors. Draw on the combined talent of decades of investment successes and mistakes that have been made by others. This discussion group will be facilitated by Kal Klatte.

This informal discussion group will meet at Malibu City Hall in the Multi-Purpose room. For more information call the Malibu Senior Center at (310) 456-2489 ext. 357.

The Malibu Senior Center is offering a reading of poetry and prose and a potluck lunch on Friday, December 16 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room at Malibu City Hall.

The readers are from the Emeritus Creative Writing class and others who have published work in the Emeritus Chronicles, and they will recite original works of poetry and prose at this special event. Bring a potluck item to share with others.
