The Daily Journal published its 2014 list of California’s Top Intellectual Property Lawyers this week. Two attorneys from the Century City office of Greenberg Traurig were named to the list, it was announced April 9.

Internet Law specialist Ian C. Ballon was named amongst the State’s top 75 intellectual property lawyers while the Daily Journal recognized trademarks/brand management guru Susan L. Heller amongst the Top 25 portfolio managers in California.

According to a statement released by Greenberg Traurig, Ballon is an intellectual property and Internet litigator who represents entertainment, media, and technology companies in a variety of matters including complex copyright, defense of data privacy, right of publicity, security, trademark, and trade security, among others.

Ballon represented MySpace in a 2008 lawsuit against Sanford Wallace, claiming he violated anti-phishing and Internet terms of use statutes. In that suit, Ballon reportedly won a $230,000,000 verdict judgment for MySpace.

He also authored E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise with Forms (Second Edition), a four-volume set considered an authority in his specialty.

In 2012, the Century City Bar Assoc. named Ballon New Media Lawyer of the Year.

The chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Trademarks and Brand Management Group, Heller represents A-list entertainment personalities, highly visible Fortune 500 companies, and world champion athletes.

“Heller helps her clients monetize and optimize their key brands and corporate images through strategic positioning, management and enforcement of their worldwide trademark, copyright and domain name portfolios, and extensive collateral product licensing,” a statement from Greenberg Traurig read. “She partners with her clients, and works with their legal, marketing and business teams to ensure that marketing strategies and business sensitivities are integrated into her legal analysis and advice.”

Greenberg Traurig is an international, multi-practice law firm. About 1,750 attorneys work in the firm’s 36 offices worldwide. Its Century City office is located at 1840 Century Park East, Suite 1900.

More information about the firm can be found at its website.
