Gymnast Gabby Douglas was selected as Best Female Athlete, and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder was chosen as Best Male Athlete at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards, presented at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion.
An offshoot of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which honor actors, celebrities and athletes, the event was hosted by Michael Strahan, a former NFL standout who co-hosts “Live with Kelly and Michael” and appears on Fox’s NFL pre-game show.
Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks won “Favorite Newcomer,” and Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys took “Favorite Catch.”
Soccer player Tim Howard, who plays goalkeeper for Everton, won “Best Save,” and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks won “Clutch Player of the Year.”
