A man who said he was hit by a vehicle on Santa Monica State Beach was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday, police said.
The man, who said he was hit on Saturday night, was found at 6 a.m. after someone heard his cries for help on the beach in the 1400 block of Pacific Coast Highway, just north of the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica police told a photographer at the scene.
Tire tracks were found near the man but investigators did not immediately confirm where he was injured or whether he had indeed been struck by a vehicle, police said.
