More than 112,000 prospective students applied for admission to UCLA for fall 2015, again making the Westwood campus the most applied-to four-year university in the country, the university announced today.

UCLA received 92,681 freshman applications and 20,063 transfer applications, according to the university.

The number of applications is 6.5 percent higher than last year, and also included increases among virtually all racial and ethnic groups.

According to UCLA, the number of applications from black students increased by 13 percent from last year, and the number of Chicano/Latino applicants grew by 5.6 percent. Asian-American student applications increased by 4.8 percent, and the number of white applicants grew by 5.4 percent.

The number of applications from Native American students dipped slightly, but still remained higher than the level from three years ago.

“The data shows that expanding our recruiting efforts is paying off,” according to Youlonda Copeland-Morgan, UCLA’s associate vice chancellor for enrollment management. “The robust increase in the diversity of our applicants is the result of our concerted efforts to reach out to rural communities, underserved communities, large urban areas where there’s evidence of talent and indeed every community in California.”

Freshman applicants will be notified of admission decisions by April 1, and admitted students will have until May 1 to declare whether they intend to register. Transfer applicants will be notified by April 30 and will have until June 1 to commit.
