A capacity field of 12,200 has registered for today’s inaugural “Star Wars” Half-Marathon at the Disneyland Resort, including runners from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and 16 foreign countries.
The race reached its capacity in 122 minutes, according to an official with runDisney, which holds a series of races at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.
The “Star Wars Rebel Challenge,” entry for both the half-marathon and today’s “Star Wars” 10K, reached its capacity in 24 minutes.
The 13.1-mile course begins on Disneyland Drive, near Downtown Disney and Disneyland, then goes through Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Park. It then moves to the streets of Anaheim, passing the Anaheim Convention Center and heading south on Harbor Boulevard to Garden Grove Boulevard.
The course heads west on Garden Grove Boulevard to Ninth Street, north to Stanford Avenue, past Garden Grove High School. The course later heads north on Main Street, east on Chapman Avenue, north on Harbor Boulevard, west on Katella Avenue, concluding near the Disneyland Hotel.
There will be costumed characters from “Star Wars” and Disneyland characters along the course to cheer the runners on.
