As a city with a huge emphasis on development, Century City’s upcoming State of the City event will highlight some of the region’s most notable developers as they discuss the area’s upcoming endeavors.

Bright and early on Tuesday, March 24, Constellation Place will house a board of distinguished panelists who will delve into key topics involving various forms of upcoming development.

The brainchild of the Business, Entertainment, & Law (BEL) Council of the Century City Chamber of Commerce, the State of the City event was the result of “much conversation about development projects going on in Century City,” according to Susan Bursk, President and CEO of Century City Chamber of Commerce.

With a handful of development projects in the works – from residential to retail to office to healthcare – Century City is set to be constantly transforming and keeping busy.

“We thought it was a great idea to have a conversation about the development projects that are taking place here,” Bursk said. “The developments will encompass all types of different uses. When it comes to retail, Westfield will be going through a major redevelopment project. We will also have the first residential project in the corporate area of Century City, other than The Century.”

In the world of healthcare, Bursk said that the partnership between UCLA and Cedars-Sinai will ultimately result in a new rehabilitation facility to take the place of the former Century City Doctor’s Office. As for office use, an incoming JMB office project is moving closer to the start of construction at the corner of Avenue of the Stars and Constellation Blvd.

Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to learn more about such projects from expert viewpoints and be infromed about local real estate trends and Century City construction.

“There is so much happening in a small area,” Bursk said. “We thought it was timely to bring everyone together to learn and discuss.”

The confirmed panelists are John Marshall (Senior VP of Development at Westfield) Tom Priselac (President and CEO of Cedars-Sinai), and Sarah Shaw (VP of Development and Operations and JMB Realty). Additional panelists will be confirmed as the date of the event draws nearer. Brenton Garen, executive editor of Mirror Media Group (publisher of Century City News), will moderate.

The panelists will talk on important topics of relevance and inform attendees of both the basics and the intricacies within the realm of development.

From the technicalities that come with a new development project – such as permitting and regulations – to the response of the surrounding community – which will address the social and economic impact –  panelists will have an in-depth discussion about the many facets of development. Other topics of conversation will include the focus on state-of-the-art amenities and the debate between preservation and renovation.

“All of these projects are great investments,” Bursk said. “We hope that Century City will continue to be an economic engine for the city of Los Angeles.”

The order of events will be as follows:

From 7:30 am to 8:30 am, guests can participate in networking and enjoy a continental breakfast.

From 8:40 am to 9 am, there will be a keynote presentation.

From 9 am to 10 am, the panel discussion will take place.

Tickets are priced at $55 for Chamber members, $65 for non-members, and $75 for those purchasing at the door. Continental breakfast and discounted parking are included in the price. No refunds will be given for cancellations or no-shows.

Cedars-Sinai and Constellation Place are the development sponsors of this event.

The State of the City Event will take place at Constellation Place, level 14, which is located at 10250 Constellation Blvd. in Century City.
