Annual Los Angeles marathon to close down streets

Sunday’s 30th annual Los Angeles Marathon will again mean dozens of miles of temporary no parking, tow-away lanes, and closed roads from Dodger Stadium to the sea.

Street closings at the eastern end of the course were planned to start at 3:15 a.m. Sunday for the early stages, and those downtown-area streets were planned to reopen as early as 10:20 a.m. Closures further west on the course will begin and end later.

Cars parked along the marathon route will be ticketed, towed and impounded.

The Marathon begins at Dodger Stadium and ends at the Santa Monica Pier. North-south traffic across the race will be restricted to four major crossing points, the Hollywood (101), Harbor (110) and San Diego (405) freeways, and under the finish line on Pacific Coast Highway at Santa Monica.

In addition, three surface streets cross the race at underpasses, and will be open:

— Silver Lake Boulevard under the course at Sunset Boulevard;

— Myra Avenue under the course at Sunset Boulevard;

— Wilshire Boulevard over the course at the Veterans Administration.

During the closures, the major open east-west routes will be the Santa Monica (10) Freeway; all of Olympic and Pico boulevards, Wilshire Boulevard (but only west of downtown Beverly Hills); Beverly Boulevard (east of Fairfax Avenue); Santa Monica Boulevard (east of Fairfax Avenue); and Sunset Boulevard (from Beverly Hills to the ocean).

The following streets will be closed from 3:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.:

— Elysian Park Avenue between Dodger Stadium and Sunset Boulevard;

— Sunset Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Avenue between Douglas Street and Alameda Street. (The closure may extend to Vignes Street, if necessary);

— Temple Street between Alameda Street and Glendale Boulevard;

— First Street between Alameda Street and Hope Street;

— Main Street between Third Street and Alameda Street;

— Spring Street between Cesar Chavez Avenue and Third Street;

— Broadway between College Street and Second Street;

— Alpine Street between Hill Street and Alameda Street;

— Ord Street between Hill Street and Alameda Street;

— North Spring Street between College Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue;

— Los Angeles Street between Temple Street and Third Street;

— Judge John Aiso Street and San Pedro Street between Temple Street and Third Street;

— Central Avenue between First Street and Third Street;

— Second Street between Alameda Street and Broadway.

— Hill Street between Ord Street and Second Street;

— Olive Street between Second Street and First Street;

— Grand Avenue between Second Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue;

— Figueroa Street between Second Street and Alpine Street;

— Beaudry Avenue between First Street and Sunset Boulevard;

— East Edgewater Road between Temple Street and Bellevue Avenue;

— Bellevue Avenue between East Edgewater Road and Glendale Boulevard; and

— Glendale Boulevard between Scott Avenue and Temple Street.

The following streets will be closed from 3:45 a.m. to 10:52 a.m.:

— Parkman Avenue between Glendale Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard;

— Sunset Boulevard between Echo Park Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard;

— Alvarado Street between Glendale Boulevard and Temple Street.

— Santa Monica Boulevard between Hoover Street and Sunset Boulevard;

— Griffith Park Boulevard between Effie Street and Sunset Boulevard;

— Fountain Avenue between Myra Avenue and Virgil Avenue;

— Hillhurst Avenue and Virgil Avenue between Franklin Avenue and Fountain Avenue. (The closure may extend to Santa Monica Boulevard if necessary); and

— Sunset Boulevard between Vermont Avenue and Virgil Avenue.

The following streets will be closed from 3:55 a.m. to 11:24 a.m.:

— Hollywood Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue;

— Vermont Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Normandie Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Western Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Wilton Place between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Bronson Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Gower Street between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Vine Street between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Cahuenga Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

The following streets will be closed from 4:05 a.m. to 12:12 p.m.:

— Highland Avenue between Santa Monica Boulevard and Franklin Avenue;

— Orange Drive between Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard;

— Sunset Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Crescent Heights Boulevard;

— La Brea Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and De Longpre Avenue;

— Fairfax Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard;

— Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Crescent Heights Boulevard between Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard;

The following streets will be closed from 4:20 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

— Doheny Drive between Beverly Boulevard and Burton Way;

— Third Street between Robertson Boulevard and Doheny Drive;

— Burton Way between Robertson Boulevard and Doheny Drive;

The following streets will be closed from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

— Sunset Boulevard between Havenhurst Drive and Doheny Drive;

— San Vicente Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Melrose Avenue;

— Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega Boulevard and Doheny Drive; and

— Doheny Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard;

The following streets will be closed from approximately 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

— Doheny Drive from Beverly Boulevard to Burton Way;

— Burton Way from Doheny Drive to Rexford Drive;

— Little Santa Monica Boulevard from Rexford Drive to Rodeo Drive;

— Rodeo Drive from Little Santa Monica Boulevard to Wilshire Boulevard;

— Wilshire Boulevard from Rodeo Drive to Santa Monica Boulevard; and

— Santa Monica Boulevard from Wilshire Boulevard to Rodeo Drive.

The following streets will be closed from 4:45 a.m. to 2:04 p.m.:

— North side of westbound Santa Monica Boulevard between Moreno Drive and Sawtelle Boulevard;

— Beverly Glen Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard;

— Westwood Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard;

— Veteran Avenue between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard;

— Sepulveda Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard (may be closed to Olympic Boulevard if necessary);

— Cotner Avenue between Santa Monica Boulevard and Ohio Avenue; and

— Ohio Avenue between Veteran Avenue and Corinth Avenue.

The following streets will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2:52 p.m.:

— San Vicente Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Montana Avenue;

— south side of eastbound San Vicente Boulevard between Montana Avenue and 26th Street;

— Barrington Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard;

— Montana Avenue between Bundy Drive and Barrington Avenue; and

— Kenter Avenue/Bundy Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard.
