Bobby Flay will be the first chef to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Bobby Flay will receive the 2,553rd star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame today, the first chef to be so honored.

Flay’s fellow “Iron Chef” Michael Symon, Food Network and Cooking Channel President Brooke Johnson and Flay’s daughter Sophie will join him in speaking in the 11:30 a.m. ceremony in front of Eastown Apartments on Hollywood
Boulevard.

The ceremony comes five days before the start of the 11th season of the search for the next great television food personality, “Food Network Star,” which Flay co-hosts.

Flay first appeared on Food Network in 1994. His series have included “Grillin’ & Chillin,”’ “Hot Off the Grill,” “Boy Meets Grill,” “Throwdown With Bobby Flay,” “Beat Bobby Flay,” “Bobby Flay’s Barbecue
Addiction,” “Guilty Pleasures,” “Iron Chef America” and “Brunch @ Bobby’s.”

Flay began his cooking career when he was 17 years old as a cook at New York’s famed Theatre District restaurant, Joe Allen’s, in a job arranged by his father, a partner in the restaurant. After a short time, Joe Allen himself became so impressed by Flay’s talents that he paid his tuition to the French
Culinary Institute.

Flay went on to be a chef at several restaurants. He is the executive chef and owner of Bar Americain in New York City and Connecticut, Gato in New York City, Bobby Flay Steak in Atlantic City, the Mesa Grill in Las Vegas and the Bahamas and the Bobby’s Burger Palace chain.
