With the morning shotgun start of the 35th annual Century City golf tournament on Monday, 125 golfers teed off for one of Century City Chamber of Commerce’s biggest fundraisers.

The event was held at the prestigious Mountain Gate Country Club, situated in the shadows of the Santa Monica Mountains off the 405 just north of the Getty Center. With three 9-hole courses, all designed by noted golf course architect Ted Robinson, golfers, sponsors, colleagues, and vendors were all smiles in the 75-degree weather.

Bryan Chambers, who chaired the Golf Tournament committee, was delighted with the golf tournament turnout.

“We changed a few things up this year,” Chambers said, including a more high-profile golf course and event location and an earlier date in the year. The goal was to drive up attendance and make it an all-day upscale event.

“The event is always great,” Chambers said. “Good turn out, good people.”

The hole-in-one prize came in the form of one of the newest cars out by Lexus, the RC 350. A $52,000 two-door coupe was sponsored on behalf of Lexus Santa Monica, a year-old member of the Chamber of Commerce and only automotive partner.

“We provide a car and anyone who gets a hole-in-one on a designated hole, wins the car on a two-year lease, free of charge,” said Neal Greene of Lexus Santa Monica of the F-sport model with a 360 Horsepower v-6 engine. This was the second year Lexus Santa Monica sponsored the hole-in-one prize with a brand new car.

“Century City Chamber of Commerce is one of the most unique and elite chambers, I belong to several through the city,” Greene said. “This represents a very unique element of the L.A. business community. It involves business, retail, legal, entertainment, medical.”

With a luncheon, dinner, awards presentation, silent auction and raffle, participants were able to win exclusive prizes like merchandise, hotel getaways, massages, gift cards, and sports tickets and memorabilia. But the grand prize for the raffle was the 42 mm Apple Watch.

Always a fan favorite, the anticipated helicopter ball drop had a cash prize of $1,000.

Since 1970, the Century City Chamber has helped build Century City into one of Los Angeles’ premier business communities. Through its various councils and committees, members provide various opportunities to network and raise money to benefit from strategic networking. They promote businesses while also advocating for public policy within the Century City community.
