A magnitude-4.0 earthquake hit the Big Bear area Wednesday morning but there were no reports of damage in Los Angeles County.
The temblor struck at 9:10 a.m., at a depth of 6.8 miles, with the epicenter seven miles south-southeast of Big Bear Lake, according to a computer- generated report from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake was first reported as a magnitude-4.5, but later downgraded by the USGS to 4.0.
No damage was reported in the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s jurisdiction, and the agency was in its normal operating mode, county fire Inspector Randall Wright said.
