The Los Angeles Dodgers are urging fans to arrive as early as possible and embrace car pooling and alternative transportation to Dodger Stadium for Games 1 and 2 of their National League Division Series against the New York Mets today and tomorrow.

The Dodger Stadium Express shuttle bus service from Union Station will begin service at 4:15 p.m. today and 3:37 p.m. tomorrow, 2 1/2 hours before the first pitch. The service is free for everyone with a game ticket.

South Bay Dodger Stadium Express Service will begin two hours before each game from the Harbor Gateway Transit Center.

Auto gates will open at 3:45 p.m. today and 3:07 p.m. Saturday. The left field plaza will be open for fans to enter and watch batting practice from 4:15-4:45 p.m. today and 3:30-4 p.m. Saturday. Stadium gates will open at 4:15 p.m. today and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Today’s game will begin at 6:45 p.m. and Saturday’s at 6:07 p.m.

Fans going to today’s game will have deal with customary rush hour freeway traffic. Freeway congestion Saturday is expected to be heavier than usual because of the U.S.-Mexico CONCACAF Cup soccer game at the Rose Bowl, set to start shortly after 6 p.m., just like the Dodger Game.

Face painters will be on hand in the left field plaza and DJ Adam will provide musical entertainment in the right field plaza from 4:30-6:30 p.m. today. All-4-One, the Grammy-winning ’90s pop stars, will sing the national anthem.

Ella Annear, a 4-year-old cancer survivor will throw today’s ceremonial first pitch.

U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Victor Mexicano of Jalisco, Mexico, will be today’s military hero of the game. Mexicano was deployed to Iraq in support of three missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom and served a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Mexicano now serves at a recruiting station in Los Angeles.
