Dodgers Seek to Regain Lead in Division Series Against Washington Nationals

The Los Angeles Dodgers will seek to regain the lead in their National League Division Series against the Washington Nationals today at Dodger Stadium after splitting the first two games in Washington.

The Nationals tied the best-of-five series at one game a piece with a 5- 2 victory in Game 2 Sunday. The Dodgers were 4-3 winners in Game 1 on Friday. Game 2 was originally scheduled for Saturday, but postponed because of rain.

Right-hander Kenta Maeda will pitch for the Dodgers against Washington left-hander Gio Gonzalez. Maeda was 16-11 with a 3.48 ERA in his first season in Major League Baseball. He will be facing the Nationals for the first time.

Gonzalez was 11-11 with a 4.57 ERA during the regular season. He allowed three hits and one run over six innings in his only appearance against the Dodgers, in a game Washington won, 8-1, July 20.

A limited number of tickets for today’s game and Tuesday’s Game 4 remain available and can be purchased at dodgers.com/postseason, a team official said.

Dodger pitcher turned broadcaster Orel Hershiser will throw the ceremonial first pitch to Steve Sax, a teammate with the 1988 World Series champion Dodgers.

Rhythm and blues singer, songwriter and producer TQ will perform the national anthem, accompanied by a military color guard representing the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jasmin Duran of Menifee will be honored as the military hero of the game. Duran joined the Marine Corps in 2009 and deployed twice through the 11th and 13th Military Expeditionary Units in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Duran is now a recruiter based in Redlands.

Auto gates will open at 10:08 a.m., with stadium gates opening at 10:38 a.m. On-field introductions will begin at 12:46 p.m., the national anthem at 12:56 p.m. and the first pitch at 1:08 p.m.

Fans are being encouraged to arrive early and to carpool or use an alternative transportation service.
