New Apple Store Opens Nov. 3

The newly relocated and revamped Apple store will open on Nov. 3. at 8 a.m. The special hours through 9 p.m. are designed to coincide with the launch of the new iPhone X, to accommodate the large number of people that are expected to turn up for the launch.

The current space where Apple is located will be officially closed on Nov. 2 and the new, improved store will be opposite an upcoming Rolex store.

Customers will notice a new look in the store, based on Apple’s latest retail design, including large glass doors, sequoia wood tables and shelves, a large video screen for Today at Apple sessions, and light boxes spanning the length of the ceiling.

Asian Boxes

The Asian fusion chain AsianBox now has a home at the mall. Menu items include “The Garden Box” with tofu, brown rice, and steamed veggies; “The Ox Box” with beef, jasmine rice, tossed veggies, caramel egg, and sriracha; and the “Surf Vietnam Box” with shrimp, soy-garlic beef, rice, crispy shallots, sprouts, and pickled veggies. You can also build your own “box” from an array of meats, veggies, toppings and sauces.

The founders say AsianBox was inspired street stalls that were really the first sustainable restaurants. The proprietors purchased everything they needed fresh for the day and pushed their carts to market with the day’s bounty. They would sell everything they made fresh each day and start again tomorrow. AsiaBox says it’s committed to creating that fresh, made-to-order experience in an authentic, healthy way.

Amazon Books

Amazon has opened an official brick and mortar bookstore in the heart of the Century City Mall.

This marks Amazon’s third bookstore with the first two opening in Seattle and Chicago.

The 5,227 square-foot space is stocked with books based on customer ratings, pre-orders and sales data derived from its online store.

The store also sells magazines and music as well as Amazon’s full line of devices, including the Kindle, Echo, Fire TV and Fire Tablet. The cost for these products remains the same as Amazon’s online store, without any extra shipping costs.

The store is open Mon-Sat from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
