For many years we were an invited as guests at the Annual Ace Eddie Awards celebrating the best editing of the year in film, TV and documentaries. This year at the standing-room-only event at the Beverly Hilton, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Spiderman” and “The Favorite” took top honors for best film editing,
TV winners included “Atlanta,” “Teddy Perkins,” “The Marvelous Miss Maizel,” and “Killing Eve.” The best documentary, “Robin Williams, Come into My Mind” edited by Greg Finton and Poppy Das was naturally a shoe-in!
Sure miss that guy.
My favorite filmmaker, Guillermo Del Toro received the Ace Golden Award, celebrating his prolific career. Imagine the difficulty in editing ‘The Shape of Water?” Being a fan of horror and fantasy flicks (my ex-brother-in-law (Jack Harris) produced “The Blob”) this enchanting film swam into my soul.
Presenters and guests included Spike Lee, Bradley Cooper, Octavia Spencer and the Producer of “Spiderman, Phil Lord. Kudos to Stephen Rivkin, President of American Film Editors for a fab evening.
For years I have been friends with actress, producer and author Renee Taylor and have attended and supported her myriad of projects. Her book, “My Life on a Diet” has made her my guru of gastronomy. Now this tome has been turned into a tour de force for Renee, and was a major hit on Broadway. You will have the opportunity to see her show at our own Wallis Theatre in Beverly Hills running April 5 – April 14 in the Lovelace Studio Theatre. We saw the show performed at Renee’s Beverly Hills home, along with her late husband Joe Bologna, and can’t wait to see this professional production. We can promise you laughs galore from the star of “The Nanny” who will win you over with her spicy comments about her notable career.
