Popular Jewish deli no longer at Westfield Century City
By Kerry Slater
Wexler’s Deli, the popular Jewish restaurant known for their pastrami on rye sandwiches and lox and bagels, among other deli staples, has closed their Westfield Century City location.
The restaurant, which was located in the mall’s food court, opened its Century City location in 2017 – the third in Wexler’s Los Angeles – serving all of the deli’s favorites with the addition of a chopped steak sandwich and grilled cheese on challah bread, both offered only in Century City. The original location in Downtown and the second Wexler’s in Santa Monica remain open.
As reported by Eater LA, increased restaurant competition coupled with stagnant foot traffic was the reason behind the decision to close up shop.
A few months after Wexler’s opened their Century City location, Italian food emporium Eataly launched their three-story culinary destination at the mall. In addition, popular restaurants such as Crack Shack and Din Tai Fung have opened in the mall as well, no doubt making for a more competitive dining scene.
