Suspect attempts to break into bedroom of UCLA student

Police are searching for a suspect who attempted to break into the occupied bedroom of a Westwood apartment, the third such incident in recent weeks.
According to the UCLA Police Department, on March 23 around 5 a.m. the victim reported an unknown suspect attempting to break into her bedroom through the room’s widow. The apartment is located at 800 Block of Weyburn Terrace. The attempted break-in was unsuccessful, police say.
“Further investigation indicated that the victim’s bedroom and living room window screens were both damaged.The residence was occupied at the time of the burglary (i.e. ‘hot prowl’ burglary),” UCLA Police said.
The victim is a UCLA student.
The suspect was heard only. No suspect description was reported to police.
This is the third such incident to take place in Westwood in recent weeks.
According to the UCLA Police Department, on March 21 around 2 a.m. the suspect was seen prowling inside a residence on the 500 block of Landfaire Avenue. When confronted, the suspect quickly left the area.
UCLA PD says around $800 was reported missing by the victim, who was in the apartment at the time of the crime.
In addition, on March 19 around 8:30 a.m. another victim reported an unknown suspect who attempted to enter his apartment on the 3100 block of Sepulveda. The victim, who was in the apartment at the time, says the suspect was unable to enter due to the unit’s security latch. The victim in this incident is also a UCLA student.
