Development will bring 61 units to 2444-2456 S. Barry Avenue
Vertical construction is complete for Iris, a supportive housing complex coming to Sawtelle from San Diego-based Affirmed Housing Group.
Located near the I-10 Freeway at 2444-2456 S. Barry Avenue, the six-story building features 61 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Meant to support low-income households, rents are set between $621 for studio units and $1,840 per month for larger three-bedroom dwellings. The project was funded with Measure HHH and tax-exempt bonds among other sources, with an estimated cost of $38.3 million.
Designed by BSB Design, Iris is a contemporary building with a U-shaped footprint surrounding a central courtyard and features such as a rooftop deck and an exterior of stucco and metal panels. Completion of the project is expected in early 2024 according to Affirmed Housing.
