Developer Century Housing Corporation to Create 112 Homes for Homeless Veterans, Including Studios and One-Bedrooms at 30-50% of Area Median Income.
The Los Angeles County Board Of Supervisors has voted to approve an additional $41.6 million to build an additional 112 units of housing for unhoused veterans as reported by Urbanize Los Angeles
Century Housing Corporation will receive approximately $41.6 million in bond funds following the vote to authorize its release. The funds will be used for the adaptive reuse of historic Buildings 156 and 157 situated at the northern edge of the VA Campus. The two buildings will comprise a total of 112 homes, exclusively for previously homeless veterans. The project is known as The West LA Veterans Collective.
The housing will include 96 studio units and 14 one-bedroom units, with prices geared toward households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level. Two two-bedroom units will be reserved for on-site managers.
Buildings 156 and 157 were formerly part of the tuberculosis hospital on the VA Campus and have served as a medical clinic. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution to approve funding for permanent supportive housing at the West Los Angeles VA Campus during its April 18 meeting.
The northern section of the VA Campus will see the construction of more than 1,200 homes, including the recently constructed 73-unit Building 404 apartments and the Building 207 apartments that opened earlier this year.
