Stealing catalytic converters is a crime that has increased in the last few years. The City of Beverly Hills has now experienced the attempts of criminals to commit that kind of crime within their city limits. The city released a press release via Facebook detailing how the thieves’ attempt was foiled.
According to the press release, Beverly Hills Police Department officers successfully apprehended thieves trying to remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle. The incident unfolded when the vehicle owner caught the suspects red-handed, prompting their immediate attempt to flee. However, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Real Time Watch Center and Virtual Patrol Officers, the suspects’ vehicle was swiftly located based on the victim’s description.
A motor officer and additional units from the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) initiated a pursuit of the suspects, albeit at a slow speed due to heavy traffic on the freeway. Maintaining their focus and determination, BHPD officers skillfully executed a flawless Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver as the suspect vehicle attempted to exit.
The post added that this tactical move effectively immobilized the vehicle and led to the swift arrest of the suspects. During a search, officers discovered the stolen catalytic converter inside the suspects’ vehicle, providing further evidence of their involvement in the crime.
In a statement, the city said the BHPD remains committed to upholding the safety and security of the community, leaving no room for criminal activity within the City of Beverly Hills.
