The Victim Is A Teacher Who Relies On A Single Income
By Dolores Quintana
As we reported on May 26, the Beverly Hills Police Department caught thieves who made off with a local resident’s catalytic converter. The police discovered that the victim, who relies on a single income, is a public school teacher who contributes significantly to the community. The theft caused the teacher to be burdened with the financial strain of reinstalling the recovered catalytic converter.
Responding to this unforeseen expense, the Beverly Hills Police Officers Benevolent Fund & Association quickly organized a fundraiser. Members of the Beverly Hills Police Department joined forces to raise enough money to cover the cost of the repair.
To further safeguard against future catalytic converter thefts, one of our officers took an extra step to protect the victim. In a follow-up to our recent catalytic converter community engraving event, the reinstalled converter was engraved with a unique identifier. This proactive measure aims to deter potential thieves and increase the chances of recovering stolen converters.
The Beverly Hills Police Department said, in a Facebook post about the story, “Upholding the law and uplifting the community – that’s our promise. Proud to serve Beverly Hills.”
