Tony Award Winner’s Captivating Drama Takes Center Stage, Delving into Secrets and Revelations at the Geffen Playhouse

Unveiling the Elegance and Intrigue of ‘The Engagement Party

By Dolores Quintana

The Geffen Playhouse is proud to announce their newest play, “The Engagement Party,” at their Westwood playhouse. This is the play’s West Coast premiere, and it will run from October 4 through November 5. You can purchase tickets on the Geffen Playhouse website

The play’s synopsis states, “Amid the opulence of a chic Park Avenue apartment, a young couple’s engagement celebration unfolds with elegance and grandeur. However, when a glass of wine is accidentally spilled, the evening takes an unforeseen and captivating twist, setting in motion a cascade of events and revelations that will forever alter their destinies.”

Richard Bekins, Bella Heathcote, Brian Lee Huynh, Mark Jacobson, Wendie Malick, Briann Patrick Murphy, Jonah Platt, and Lauren Worsham are the actors who star in this production.

“The Engagement Party,” directed by Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak, renowned for his work on “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” and “Anastasia,” originally graced the stage at Hartford Stage in 2019. Critics celebrated it as a “masterful piece of playwriting” and a “theatrical experience worth its weight in gold” during its original production. The play was written by Samuel Baum (“Wizard of Lies,” “Lie To Me”)

Runtime: 80 minutes, no intermission.

Warnings: Content Advisory: This production contains profanity and adult subject matter.

Age Recommendation: 12+. All Geffen Playhouse productions are intended for an adult audience; children under ten years of age will not be admitted.
