Mindy Kaling Ventures into Beverly Hills with New Real Estate Purchase

Actress and Producer Acquires Fixer-Upper in Exclusive Locale

By Dolores Quintana

Mindy Kaling, the multifaceted actress, writer, and producer known for her previous real estate acquisitions in the Los Angeles area, has made another purchase, as reported by The Robb Report. This time, she’s set her sights on a traditional Hamptons-style fixer-upper in Beverly Hills, just minutes away from the renowned Beverly Hills Hotel and Rodeo Drive.

Records indicate that the property hit the market earlier this year with an asking price just shy of $17 million. However, Kaling managed to secure the property at a reduced cost of $15 million. This represents a financial setback for the previous owner, Russian insurance billionaire Sergey Sarkisov, who acquired the residence for $16.2 million in 2017. Notably, Sarkisov also possesses the much larger mansion adjacent to Kaling’s new acquisition.

Constructed in the early 1950s and previously belonging to the late and influential Hollywood business manager and producer Edgar F. Gross, the house boasts shingled and brick-accented architecture. It is discreetly situated down a lengthy driveway and occupies two parcels of walled and hedged land spanning over an acre.

Of note, the property is located in close proximity to Taylor Swift’s historic mansion, once owned by MGM producer Samuel L. Goldwyn.

While available photos are limited, details are sparse due to confidentiality agreements, and involved parties have refrained from commenting. Marketing materials, however, reveal that the existing two-story structure encompasses six bedrooms and six bathrooms within a little over 6,000 square feet of living space. There is potential for the house to be replaced with a larger and modern mansion, offering up to 15,000 square feet of living area.

Kaling’s exact plans for the property remain undisclosed. Listing agent Ernie Carswell of Douglas Elliman, who showcased the home in a recent YouTube video, described it as an “opportunity property,” anticipating that a visionary buyer will maximize its potential. The property features a substantial lot, a tennis court, a guest house, a pool, and a main house, all set in lush surroundings, inviting the next owner to elevate it to new heights.
