Kamala Harris Slams Arizona Abortion Ban and Trump’s Influence in Century City

Vice President Criticizes Restrictive Laws in Speeches on the Westside

Vice President Kamala Harris took a firm stance against Arizona’s recent abortion ban and criticized former President Trump’s influence on the matter during an unexpected appearance in Century City as reported by The Los Angeles Times. .

Speaking at the Power Leadership and Influence of Black Women luncheon, where Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-Calif.) was being celebrated, Harris condemned the lack of exceptions for rape and incest in some states’ abortion laws. She emphasized the injustice of denying survivors of such crimes the right to decide what happens to their bodies next, branding it as immoral.

“Here’s the thing about what they’re doing and the cruelty of it: No exception in some states even for rape and incest. You are saying to a survivor of a crime of violence to their body, a violation to their body, that they have no right to make a decision about what happens to their body next.” – Vice President Kamala Harris.

Addressing Trump’s stance on states’ rights regarding abortion, Harris highlighted the alarming trend of states enacting restrictive abortion laws influenced by the former president. She refused to be misled, asserting that the blame lies squarely with those implementing such policies.

On Friday, Harris spoke during a fundraising event hosted at Seth MacFarlane’s Beverly Hills estate, where $1.5 million was raised for the Biden Victory Fund. The event, attended by notable figures including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, showcased Harris’s commitment to the cause.

Referring to Trump’s impact on the Supreme Court, Harris underscored the deliberate selection of justices with the aim of overturning Roe v. Wade. Her statements echoed previous remarks made in Tucson and underscored a central theme expected to feature prominently in President Biden’s reelection campaign.

At the fundraiser, MacFarlane injected humor into the proceedings by jesting about the advantages of hosting such events at his home, prompting laughter from attendees, including Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
