Architects and Developers Invited to Submit Designs for Detached ADUs
The City of Beverly Hills is calling on architects, designers, and developers to submit preapproved plans for detached Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) as part of the first phase of its new “Preapproved ADU Program.” This initiative aims to foster the development of ADUs in compliance with recent state mandates.
“We are excited to welcome thoughtful designs that consider the distinctive character of the Beverly Hills community,” said Michael Forbes, Director of Community Development. “We hope this new program will prove to be a successful avenue for those interested in constructing an ADU while utilizing a high-quality plan in an efficient way that meets our City standards.”
In the program’s initial phase, the city will review submissions for code compliance. Once approved, these designs will be featured on the city’s website. In the second phase, property owners can select from these preapproved plans, speeding up the construction approval process and cutting costs while adhering to city building and safety standards.
Property owners opting for preapproved plans must still contract with the designer to use the plans, obtain a building permit, and provide specific property details.
Applications are being accepted until Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. For more information or to apply, visit beverlyhills.org/preapprovedadu.
