Self Made Training Facility Founder Remembered for His Vision and Impact
Self Made Training Facility owner and fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar died three months after a robbery at his home in Bel Air. Several men confronted Aguilar and his wife at their home in Bel Air on September 13 of this year.
On Saturday, December 21, Self Made Training Facility’s Instagram profile announced their founder’s death with a lengthy post about Aguilar.
The post said, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar. After a courageous three-month battle following the tragic incident that took place on September 13th, 2024, Miguel peacefully passed away on December 21st, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
Miguel was more than just a leader; he was a visionary, an inspiration, a mentor, a father, a husband, family, and a dear friend to many. His unwavering dedication to Self Made Training Facility, his passion for the fitness industry and entrepreneurial spirit have left an enduring legacy.”
As we reported in September, Aguilar was tragically shot in the head and was in critical condition after the robbery attempt at the family’s home at North Thurston Circle. One of the suspects, later identified as Mario Melara, was critically injured during the confrontation and later died at a local hospital according to LAPD sources.
The LAPD arrested three teenage suspects—Jason Melara, Daymonee Johnson, and Mahki Taylor—on October 10, 2024, in Northern California in connection to the incident and The Los Angeles District Attorney filed multiple felony charges against them including murder, attempted murder, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
