Man Wearing Blue Blanket Targeted Employee in Broad Daylight
The UCLA Police Department is investigating an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred Monday morning near the UCLA Center for Health Sciences, according to a report from campus officials.
The incident took place around 9:50 a.m. on April 14 on the 700 block of Westwood Plaza, as a UCLA employee was exiting the building and walking toward Westwood Boulevard.
According to the report, the suspect approached the victim and attempted to forcibly take a cell phone from their hand. The victim managed to pull the phone back and fled the scene. The suspect briefly followed but ultimately turned around and walked south toward Westwood Village.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20s with a dark complexion, short curly hair, clean-shaven, and a distinctive mole under his right eye. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a blue moving blanket draped over his body. No injuries were reported.
The UCLA Police Department has launched an investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
