AND THE HONORS GO TO:
“We must cure cancer so everyone can turn their attention to more important things like penis enlargement,†said MC Jimmy Kimmel at the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation honoring Fox Broadcasting’s entertainment President Kevin Reilly. “And while we’re at it, let’s also do something about those prostate exams and those doctors’ thumbs,†added Kimmel. Chairs for the event were Bon Appetit’s Barbara Fairchild, Jon Holman, ABC President Steve McPherson and UTA’s Jay Sures.

Jimmy Kimmel introduced American Idol winner David Cook with this afterthought, “And remember, when David’s through singing, we’re auctioning off a program signed by Simon Cowell with a drawing of his nipple on it.†David Cook, reflecting on his meteoric rise said to the full house at the Beverly Wilshire, “I was playing acoustic about six months ago and none of you were there.â€

Magical hors d’oeuvres, food and wine stations featured (in person) Star Chefs Joachim Splichal, Ari Rosenson of CUT, BOA’s Paul Villa and Nick Kislo and wineries Au Bon Climat, BV, Nickel & Nickel and Terrabianca.

IT WAS BERRY GORDY’S TURN ANOTHER NIGHT when he was honored by the Heart Foundation of Cedars-Sinai. This is famed heart surgeon P.K. Shah’s wonderful organization, which previously honored William Morris Chairman Emeritus Norman Brokaw. Gordy was entertained by David Foster, American Idol’s Michael Johns and the smashing Tina Marie.

ADOPT-A-NUN: Irena Medavoy has thrown her support behind Sister Mary Rinaldi’s charity, where you “adopt†an elderly nun from the Salesian Order. While elderly priests receive benefits from the Church, the nuns do not, and some are sleeping on cots head-to-toe in old gyms and are deeply in need. If you adopt, your nun will pray for you every day and correspond with you as well, if you wish. For more information, visit www.salesiansisters.org

Congratulations to Cynthia Sikes on her guest-starring appearances on The Young and the Restless. Cynthia, married to producer Bud Yorkin, loved working with the cast and crew. “They were the hardest working, most professional people I’ve ever worked with.â€

Lanie Kazan and Michele Lee are all smiles at a birthday party held for Lanie at writer Ellen Weston’s house. Lanie, Michele and Connie Stevens are off to cruise the south of France on a private yacht.
