The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped a half-cent today to $4.143, decreasing for the sixth consecutive day.
The average price is 1.4 cents less than one week ago and 9.7 cents lower than one month ago but 15.7 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the sixth consecutive day today, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.115, 2.5 cents less than one week ago and 11.4 cents lower than one month ago but 16 cents more than one year ago.
Wholesale gasoline prices resumed declining at the start of June after increases for nearly two weeks caused pump prices to rise, according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
“Now that pressure is off we could we could see some further price declines if the wholesale decline continues,” Montgomery told City News Service.
“We didn’t really see an overarching reason for the wholesale increases, so now prices are doing what we would expect them to be doing when Southern California refineries are in full production mode for the summer.”
