Actress Closes Deal on 1926 Spanish-Style Home, Expanding and Renovating During Ownership

“Poor Things” Star Sells Westwood Bungalow Days Before Oscar Nomination

Academy Award-nominated actress Emma Stone, celebrated for her role in “Poor Things,” successfully sold her century-old Westwood bungalow just a day before receiving an Oscar nomination for her outstanding performance.

The 3,300-square-foot house at 1711 Ensley Avenue was sold merely 10 days after being listed for nearly $4 million, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. The buyer and the undisclosed contract price have yet to be revealed.

Stone, renowned for her roles in “La La Land” and “Cruella,” acquired the four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence in 2019 for $2.3 million. The two-story Spanish-style house, constructed in 1926 and nestled in the Comstock Hills, features a distinctive tiled roof and sage trim.

Post-acquisition, Stone enhanced the property by adding a guest house and renovating the main residence, carefully preserving original details like beamed ceilings and a tiled courtyard.

The listing, handled by Eric Lavey of Sotheby’s International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage, garnered significant attention, attracting over 100 visitors during the initial weekend. Multiple offers were received, emphasizing the ongoing demand for move-in ready homes priced below $5 million despite a slight cooling in Los Angeles’ real estate market.

While L.A. witnessed a 2.3% year-over-year drop in single-family home sales during the third quarter of 2023, with a 5.2% decline in median sale prices, Stone’s Westwood home stood out due to its infrequently traded houses in the neighborhood.

Lavey explained, “To be honest, people were just really enthralled with the property. I just think the property spoke.”

Stone, 35, had previously sold her Malibu home for $4.425 million in 2022, a month after listing it. Currently residing in Austin, Texas, where she recently purchased a house, she also maintains an apartment in Manhattan, acquired in 2018 for $3.56 million. The actress is currently nominated for her role in “Poor Things” and has announced she will again be working with director Yorgos Lathimos on his next project.
