After 14-Year-Old Daughter Can’t Meet One Direction At Concert, Mother Sues

A woman and a concierge company settled the plaintiff’s lawsuit alleging the firm failed to come through on a promise that her daughter would meet One Direction band members as part of a concert package.

Lawyers for Lubica Murkova, mother of Laura Murkova, filed court papers with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Terry Green on Nov. 30 stating that the woman’s case against Florida-based Millionaire’s Concierge Inc. and its owner, Doug Turner, was resolved. No terms were divulged.

Murkova filed suit Sept. 11, alleging fraud and breach of contract. She sought compensatory and incidental damages of more than $16,000 as well as punitive damages.

Turner did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment sent today.

According to the complaint, Murkova found Millionaire’s Concierge’s website on the Internet in January 2014 and sent an email requesting six VIP tickets with backstage passes to a One Direction concert in September 2014 at the Rose Bowl. Turner responded that he could provide two front row tickets as well as passes to meet the band members and that the cost of the package would be $7,570 per person, the suit stated.

Murkova accepted Turner’s offer and made the purchase as a 14th birthday gift for her daughter, the suit stated.

Murkova’s suit stated that her daughter was “overjoyed to learn than she would see her favorite band perform live and, more importantly, that she would have the opportunity to meet them in person.” The complaint described the teen as a “mega fan” of the English-Irish pop boy band.

However, Turner did not communicate with Murkova for months, the suit stated. Responding to an email from Murkova sent shortly before the Sept. 13, 2014, concert, he assured Murkova that her brother and daughter were on the list for the concert tickets and the meet-and-greet with band members, the suit stated.

But on the day of the concert, Turner emailed Murkova and said security concerns would prevent the meeting with the band from going forward, according to the complaint.

“Murkova’s daughter was devastated,” the suit stated. “She had told her friends that she was going to meet her favorite band members and was anticipating the moment with great excitement.”

Turner declined Murkova’s request for a full refund, the suit alleged.

Murkova believed Turner never intended to come through on the deal and “instead fraudulently induced Murkova into purchasing a sham ticket package at an exorbitant price,” the suit stated.
