An outage left about 9,900 Department of Water and Power customers in West Los Angeles without electricity Friday night.
The outage was reported at 8:10 p.m., DWP spokeswoman Carol Tucker said, with 6,400 customers still without power at 10:45 p.m.
Tucker said emergency equipment was being used to take on the power load from the overloaded station, near the intersection of Sawtelle Boulevard and Nebraska Avenue in West Los Angeles.
Feeder circuits at the station had been overloaded by the increased power demand, Tucker said. There was no estimated time for full restoration of service, she said.
