The American Lung Association will release its 12th annual State of Tobacco Control report, a yearly report card that grades the federal government and all 50 states on key tobacco control policies, on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
In conjunction with this report, the American Lung Association in California will release its complementary State of Tobacco Control 2014 – California Local Grades report that grades every city and county in the state.
The California report will be released on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 12:00 a.m. PT with all grades appearing online at the American Lung Association in California website at www.lung.org/california shortly after.
The American Lung Association State of Tobacco Control 2014 report issues grades to the federal government, all 50 states and the District of Columbia on four key tobacco control areas: smokefree air laws, cigarette tax rate, tobacco prevention and control funding, and coverage of cessation treatments and services.
In addition, the American Lung Association in California issues local tobacco grades on key tobacco policy areas to all 482 incorporated cities and all 58 counties in the state.
The State of Tobacco Control 2014 report is designed to increase public awareness about policies that protect residents from the deadly effects of tobacco and to encourage local leaders to implement change if needed.
