The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct Autism Awareness Night at tonight’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium, seeking to raise awareness for the disorder that affects 1 in 68 children, including 1 in 42 boys.
Actress Holly Robinson Peete, who has a son affected by autism, will perform the national anthem. Actor Ed Asner will make the declaration that officially starts all Dodger home games, “It’s time for Dodger baseball,” alongside his son, Matthew Asner, the executive director of Autism Speaks Southern California.
Autism Speaks is the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.
In other pregame activities, Tommy Davis, the 1962 and 1963 National League batting champion, will sign autographs in the right field pavilion plaza from 5-7 p.m., the same time fellow former Dodger outfielder “Sweet” Lou Johnson will be signing autographs in the left field pavilion plaza; rhythm and blues singer Trey Songz will throw an honorary first pitch; and Kevin O’Leary, a panelist on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” will throw the ceremonial first pitch and announce the Dodgers starting lineup.
