The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 46th consecutive day, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.858, its lowest amount since Feb. 22.
The average price in Los Angeles County has dropped 32.1 cents during the streak, including eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 2.8 cents less than one week ago and 19.5 cents lower than one month ago but two-tenths of a cent more than one year ago.
The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 48-day streak from Oct. 10-Nov. 26, 2012.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 45th time in 46 days today, decreasing a half-cent to $3.823, its lowest amount since Feb. 20.
The Orange County average price is 3.6 cents less than one week ago, 20.5 cents lower than one month ago and four-tenths of a cent below what it was one year ago.
“For the last six weeks, local wholesale prices have remained relatively stable and retail prices are getting close to the point where they won’t drop any further without another dip at the wholesale level,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
