The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped six-tenths of a cent today to $4.17, the fourth decrease in five days after rising 10 times in 11 days.
The average price is 1.6 cents below one week ago but 2.1 cents more than one month ago and 12.6 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
“… Our wholesale prices have gone down about 30 cents in the last two weeks. That’s great news for drivers. Hopefully that’s a little more room for prices to come down further,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told Video News West.
The Orange County average price dropped nine-tenths of a cent today to $4.147, its largest daily decrease since May 15. It has dropped four times in five days after rising 14 times in 15 days to its highest amount since May 19.
The Orange County average price is 1.7 cents less than one week ago but 3.2 cents more than one month ago and 13 cents higher than one year ago.
Montgomery encouraged motorists who use a smart phone to find the cheapest place to fuel up to pull over when doing so.
“Don’t be doing that while you are driving, since that is illegal,” she said.
