The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Southrn California dropped today for the 34th consecutive day, decreasing a half-cent to $3.905 in Los Angeles County and $3.876 in Orange County.
Those are the lowest prices since Feb. 27 in L.A. County, according the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The 34-day streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 47-day streak from Sept. 18-Nov. 3, 2013.
“An improving supply situation combined with typical downward trends during the end of summer has brought continued price drops,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
The L.A. County average price has dropped 27.4 cents during the streak, including nine-tenths of a cent on Saturday. It is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 25.9 cents lower than one month ago and 4.2 cents below what it was one year ago.
The 34-day streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 35-day streak from Sept. 18-Oct. 22, 2013.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the 34th consecutive day, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $3.876, its lowest amount since Feb. 25.
The Orange County average price has dropped 29 cents during the streak, including eight-tenths of a cent on both Friday and Saturday. It is 5.6 cents less than one week ago, 27.1 cents lower than one month ago and 4.5 cents below what it was one year ago.
