Police Screen More Than 200 Drivers in Overnight Safety Operation
A DUI checkpoint conducted in Beverly Hills on April 11 led to the arrest of one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence, city officials announced this week.
The checkpoint took place from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the intersection of North Santa Monica Boulevard and Crescent Drive. According to authorities, 1,630 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and 206 drivers were screened. In addition to the DUI arrest, four individuals were cited for driving without a valid driver’s license.
DUI checkpoints are strategically located based on areas with a history of impaired driving incidents and collisions. Law enforcement officials say the goal is to enhance public safety by removing potentially impaired drivers from the road.
The operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
