Real-Time Watch Center Technology Enables Officers to Apprehend Fleeing Criminal
On March 15, a suspect committed grand theft on Beverly Hills’ iconic Rodeo Drive, only to find himself pursued and captured by law enforcement officers even after fleeing the city limits.
The incident began when the suspect brazenly committed grand theft on Rodeo Drive. Undeterred, he attempted to make a getaway, believing he had evaded capture. However, thanks to the Real Time Watch Center technology and personnel, authorities swiftly tracked his movements to another grand theft several blocks away.
Despite the suspect’s attempt to elude capture, Virtual Patrol Officers (VPOs) continued to monitor his whereabouts, providing critical information to patrol officers. Even as the suspect left Beverly Hills’ jurisdiction, officers continued their pursuit. On the Beverly Hills Police Department Facebook page, the BHPD gave a stark warning to any potential criminals, saying, “Let this be a reminder: don’t commit crime in Beverly Hills; we will track you down even outside our City limits.”
Approximately an hour after the crimes occurred, officers located the suspect. In a futile attempt to escape, the suspect tried to run, but the officers apprehended him and put him in custody.
