A cement truck traveling south on Loma Vista Drive at around 11 a.m. on May 2 struck several unoccupied vehicles along the road, it was reported by the Beverly Hills Police Dept. (BHPD).

Coincidentally, the incident took place in the same area where a Los Angeles police officer was killed in March by an out-of-control dump truck.

BHPD reported the cement truck finally came to a rest at Drury Lane and Loma Vista Drive; the driver of the cement truck reportedly was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

No other injuries were reported.

Beverly Hills police officers closed off Loma Linda Drive until late Friday afternoon to conduct their investigation.

“Since the most recent construction vehicle accident on March 7, 2014, the Beverly Hills Police Department has increased enforcement in the area including commercial vehicle enforcement and issuance of traffic citations for various violations,” BHPD Sgt. Max Subin stated. “The City is also developing stringent regulations to control truck traffic on high-risk streets through the construction permit process. Enhanced Police Department enforcement in the area will also continue.”

Subin added the use of commercial vehicles in the Trousdale area of Beverly Hills is a “critical public safety issue” and the police department is working with City staff, the City Council, and other departments are “aggressively working together to avoid future accidents“
.
The number of vehicles struck by the cement truck was not reported.

LAPD officers Nicholas Lee was killed on March 7 when the cruiser he was driving collided with a dump truck on Loma Linda Drive near Robert Lane, one block north of where the cement truck struck the unoccupied vehicles on May 2.

Coincidentally, the Greystone Mansion property is located on Loma Vista Drive at Drury Lane and near Robert Lane.
