With the local election season heating up, a 3rd District Supervisorial candidate forum will be held at MacGowan Hall at UCLA on Tuesday, Sept. 16 as a result of a partnership between the university, the Century City Chamber of Commerce, and the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC).

The forum will feature Sheila Kuehl and Bobby Shriver – the two candidates for the 3rd District of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Susan Bursk, President and CEO of the Century City Chamber of Commerce, commented on the beneficial nature of the forum as well as an overlapping goal that the discussion and the Chamber share.

“We are proud to partner with UCLA and the LABC to present this discussion,” Bursk said. “It’s a great opportunity to promote our chamber with a new audience and the candidates, while spotlighting important public policy topics – including transportation, which has been the Century City Chamber’s focus for some time now.”

The discussion is set to focus on the issues of transportation, from air and noise pollution within Los Angeles International Airport, to traffic on the 405 Freeway.

Of course, Metro and the direction that the region-wide transportation authority is headed toward will be a highlighted topic of interest, as public transportation in Los Angeles has and will continue to be a relevant matter with Metro continuing to expand and connect neighborhoods in the greater Los Angeles area.

Several topics pertaining to the city’s economic development, such as lobbying for federal funding, attracting capital to invest in the county, and transparency within business permits and licenses, are also likely to be addressed during the educational conversation between the two candidates.

With such pertinent issues set to be discussed, the forum will undoubtedly provide informed insight for audience members.

The forum will start at 6:45 pm on the UCLA campus at 245 Charles E. Young Drive East in Westwood.
