The arts and entertainment industry has arguably faced the brunt of the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
With production halted and studios shut down since early March, now one of the most known representation agencies is taking a hit.
The Creative Artists Agency, one of the last to announce layoffs, announced plans in late July for layoffs and furloughs.
A CAA spokes person told the Hollywood reporter,”approximately 90 agents and executives from departments across the agency will be leaving. In addition, we are furloughing approximately 275 assistants and other staff. The company will continue to fully pay the health plan premiums for those being furloughed.”
CAA employees will be paid and receive benefits through September 30.
Those in finance in information technology will also be impacted. CAA has around 2,100 staffers and at first, was the only major talent agency to avoid layoffs during the pandemic by doing budget cuts.
The agency announced in April they would be doing companywide cuts. Co-chairmen Richard Lovett, Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane going without salaries for the rest of 2020.
In May the the company started furloughing employees, laying off 171 Beverly Hills staffers.
Currently, aside from the layoffs, the company has not made any additional announcements.
