City of Malibu Announces Partnership with Boys & Girls Club

The City of Malibu and the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu will partner during the 2017-2018 school year to offer Afterschool Enrichment Programs at Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, Point Dume Marine Science School and Webster Elementary School.

“Our afterschool program at Point Dume School over the past few years has been a tremendous success,” said Malibu Mayor Skylar Peak. “We are so grateful to the Boys & Girls Club for helping us expand it into our other elementary schools, so all of Malibu’s kids have access to the same fun, exciting afterschool activities.”

Programs will encompass the Boys & Girls Club S.T.E.A.M. model and include opportunities for participants to engage in science, technology, engineering, art and math. Classes include Culinary Arts, Robotics, LEGO® Engineering, Computer Technology, Theater Arts, Capoeira, and more.

“We are thrilled to be able to work through this creative collaboration as a local nonprofit and our City to maximize the donor dollar and the taxpayer dollar to provide high quality enrichment programming for all Malibu youth,” said Kasey Earnest, Executive Director. “I am excited to see where this partnership will take us.”

Enrichment programs prices are included in the Boys & Girls Club membership. Students who are members of the Boys & Girls Club may register for enrichment programs through Ariel Krakowsky, Director of Elementary Programs & Services, by calling 310-457-2582.

Students who are not members of the Boys & Girls Club are also welcome to join classes by paying the community rate of $150 per class. Families may register by visiting malibucity.org/register.

For more information, contact the Community Services Department at 310-317-1364 or visit malibucity.org/classes.
