COMPTON (CNS) – A 26-year-old woman was wounded and her 15-month-old
son escaped with no injuries when an unknown number of suspects fired several
shots into her black SUV as she drove down a street in Compton, a sheriff’s
sergeant said today.
The woman was listed in stable condition at an area hospital, according
to Sgt. Eric Johnson of the sheriff’s Compton station.
The shooting was at about 10:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Grandy Avenue,
and the woman was able to drive a few blocks and call authorities, Johnson
said.
“That’s where we were able to locate her,” the sheriff’s sergeant said,
adding that he had no other immediate information.
