Culver City Police Blotter – April 24

Culver City Police
The Culver City Police Dept. released this photo of what they believe is a green Ford Taurus. Police officers also believe the driver of this vehicle is suspected of trying to abduct a teenager after school on Tuesday afternoon. (Image courtesy Culver City Police Dept.)

An alleged attempt to abduct a child earlier this week in Culver City has the local police department searching for suspect, it was announced. Also, the Culver City Police Dept. (CCPD) reported two suspects were arrested on April 21 on charges of attempted residential burglary.

The attempted child abduction allegedly took place at 2:50 p.m. on April 22 when a man in a car approached a young girl who was reportedly walking home from Culver City Middle School.

CCPD said in a released statement the man was driving a green Ford Taurus and pulled up to the girl as she walking “in the area” of Farragut Drive near Overland Avenue.

Police stated the suspect then allegedly leaned over to open the passenger side door and asked the girl to get into the vehicle. The girl reportedly did not heed the alleged request and instead ran to the Culver City Teen Center to report what had just occurred.

According to CCPD, the suspect is described as a male adult, white or Hispanic, possibly in his 30s, and with a goatee. Shortly after the alleged incident occurred, CCPD released photos of the suspected vehicle.

A little more than 24 hours earlier, CCPD reportedly responded to a radio call of an attempted residential burglary on the 11100 block of Fairbanks Avenue. After a perimeter was established and search was conducted, police officers were able to locate and arrest two of the three alleged suspects. The two arrested suspects were transported and booked at CCPD.

An investigation is still ongoing.

If anyone has information about either of the two matters above, please call Lt. Emery Eccles of the CCPD at (310) 253-6258.
