A 7-Eleven store in the northwestern end of Orange County sold a Powerball lottery ticket worth $960,667, the California Lottery announced today.
The ticket had all five winning numbers in Saturday’s national drawing, 13, 16, 33, 35, and 51. But it missed the special Powerball number, 28, lottery officials said.
The ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven at 4501 E. Lincoln Ave. in Cypress, at the intersection of Denni Street and just east of the 605 Freeway.
The winner thus won a proportional share of the pot that was determined by the number of tickets sold.
There were no tickets sold with all the numbers in the multi-state Powerball lottery, which had an estimated $50 million grand prize. The estimated jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing was expected to grow to $60 million.
The odds of matching all five numbers plus the Powerball number is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website. The overall chance of winning some sort of prize is 1 in 31.85.
The Powerball game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
