New York-Inspired Pizzeria Coming to 10880 Lindbrook Drive

“I Like-A Pizza! You Like-A Pizza! Let’s Get A Pizza!” reads the website of Danny Boy’s, a dynamic New York-inspired downtown pizzeria slated to open a Westside location next year.
Founded by chef Daniel Holzman, the restaurant also serves “overstuffed” hot sandwiches and fresh salad but places a natural emphasis on the star and the main dish. “As a classically trained chef, I approach pizza with reverence,” Hozlman has commented. The pizzeria first opened a Los Angeles location inside HALO DTLA two years ago.
The chef spent years developing his line of production with keen detail, testing a multitude of pie recipes, balancing fat-to-cheese blends, and evaluating everything from tomato farms to oven makers. “And after hundreds of different recipes served to friends and family… I finally arrived at some damn good pizza.”
With the restaurant, Hozlman aimed to capture the casual atmosphere and quality of his childhood experiences eating at Ray’s Famous Original, which is a “slice joint” in New York. Danny Boy’s menu features classic appetizers (garlic knots and meatballs), pizza by the slice (including specialty, vegan, and gluten-free options), and hot hero sandwiches; one is chicken parmesan, and the other is a meatball parmesan sandwich.
Hozlman began his career in 1995 at the Michelin-starred Le Bernardin in New York, attending the Culinary Institute of America before moving to California in 2019 and working for San Francisco’s five-star restaurant Jardinière and fashionable Axe restaurant in Venice, CA, among others.
Danny Boy’s new location is set to open in Westwood Village; according to Eater Los Angeles, the new location will permit a larger customer base compared to their Downtown flagship, as well as allow for beer and wine sales.
“When we opened Danny Boy’s, we had a simple goal: create a great place to work and make the best damn NYC-style pizza we possibly could,” Holzman said in a statement. “We want to make more great pizza and grow our family of customers and coworkers. And we’ve found the perfect second location, so we couldn’t be more excited.”
The location is expected to open at 10880 Lindbrook Drive in spring 2024. Customers and loyalists can follow their Instagram page for updates. “LA is home to some of the greatest pizza in the world,” Holzman remarked. “I’m proud to join the community, striving daily to make the best pie I can.”
