Department of Public Health Warns of Potential Westwood Measles Exposure

Two residents visit Brentwood, Westwood with measles

By Sam Catanzaro

Two Los Angeles County residents have reported contracting the measles virus and visiting two Westside establishments, including a playhouse in Westwood.

According to the Los Angeles Department of Public Health (Public Health), the two individuals became sick with measles after traveling.

Public Health is currently working to identify people who may have come in contact with the two inflicted individuals.

According to Public Health, the two individuals visited the two following locations.

  • Geffen Playhouse, 10886 Le Conte Avenue, on June 7, from 8 – 11 p.m.
  • Toscana Restaurant-Brentwood, 11633 San Vicente Boulevard, on June 8, from 7 – 11 p.m.

People who were at these two businesses during the hours listed may be at risk for measles exposure, says Public Health. Anybody who may have been at these locations during these times may be at risk of developing measles for up to 21 days after being exposed.

Measles is spread through a cough or sneeze by a person with measles and can still infect others two hours after the infected person has left a room.

“If you think that you or someone in your family has measles or has been exposed to measles, contact your doctor’s office by phone right away. Tell them that you might have measles before you go in, so they can take steps to prevent other patients and staff from being exposed,” Public Health said.

There is no current risk at these locations, according to Public Health.
