LOS ANGELES, Calif., December 16, 2009 – As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves, Dignity® Memorial Service Providers around the Southland are collecting toys and hats for charities supporting youth during this holiday season. Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary (COA184/FD1163) in Newhall is collecting unused or new “kid-friendly†hats, which will be donated to local hospitals and organizations that will give them to children battling cancer. Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks – Griffin Mortuary in Westlake Village (COA509/FD1344) and Gates Kingsley & Gates Moeller Murphy (FD451) in Santa Monica will be collecting and accepting new, unwrapped toys to support Toys for Tots.
“It’s our hope and prayer that one day a cure for cancer and the many other illnesses that affect our family and friends will be found,†said Steven G. Mahrle, Funeral Arranger, Eternal Valley. “Our hope is that by collecting and delivering these hats, local children who may lose their hair due to cancer treatments will gain warmth, comfort, courage and strength.â€
Hats can be dropped off at Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy. in Newhall, 91321 through December 31st.
“We are honored to help the United States Marines in their effort to provide happiness and hope to disadvantaged children through the gift of new toys who might otherwise be overlooked this holiday season,†said Jeffrey Baker, Manager, Gates Kingsley & Gates Moeller Murphy.
Toys can be dropped off at Gates Kingsley & Gates Moeller Murphy, 1925 Arizona Avenue in Santa Monica, 90404 through December 24th or at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks – Griffin Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Blvd. in Westlake Village, 91361 through December 22nd.
